Bloom, a practical web tool from Topaz Labs, is what I’m using as an AI image enhancer to improve my AI-generated art, CG renders, and digital sketches. Unlike typical photo-focused upscalers, it uses advanced diffusion AI to increase images up to 8x, adding details and textures that match my prompts — suitable for my Midjourney, Flux, or ChatGPT work.

I’m currently trying it out with a Midjourney image of a ceramic coffee mug on a rustic wooden table with an open book, a croissant, and a cozy café background.

How I Used Bloom’s Free Plan as an AI Image Enhancer for My AI Art

1. Generated image in Midjourney, saved as PNG.
2. Signed up at https://www.topazlabs.com/bloom (free plan).

3. Uploaded image, tested High and Subtle Creativity at 4x.

4. Picked and downloaded the best variation.

My Bloom Results: Upscaling My Cozy Café Scene

I uploaded the Midjourney image, originally 1024×1024 pixels, to Bloom and upscaled it to 4x (4096×4096 pixels) using two creativity settings: Subtle and High.

Here’s what I noticed:

Original Image: My image showed a ceramic coffee mug on a rustic wooden table, with an open book, a croissant, and a blurred background with warm lighting. It captured the cozy café vibe but lacked details — like the texture of the wood or the mug’s surface.

Subtle Creativity (4 Variations):

• Detail Enhancement: The wood grain on the table became a bit more defined, the mug showed faint ceramic texture, and the croissant looked slightly flakier. The book’s pages gained a subtle texture too.

• Background and Lighting: The warm lighting and blurred background stayed true to my original vision, with a slight improvement in the bokeh effect of the lights.

• Consistency: All four variations were pretty similar, focusing on small enhancements while keeping my original composition intact.

High Creativity (4 Variations):

• Detail Enhancement: The wood grain became much more detailed, with knots and color variations that made it look so realistic. The mug had a handcrafted ceramic look, the croissant showed flaky layers with a golden hue, and the book’s pages looked more worn, fitting the cozy vibe.

• Background and Lighting: The warm lighting got even more intense, with some variations showing a stronger golden glow that made the café feel even cozier. The bokeh lights in the background were more defined, adding to the atmosphere.

• Creative Additions: Some variations added little details I loved, like reflections on the mug or crumbs on the croissant, which really brought my prompt to life.

My Take: The Subtle Creativity setting kept my image close to the original with a light polish, while High Creativity added richer, more realistic details that made the scene pop.

Having four variations to choose from for each setting was super helpful — I ended up loving High Creativity V4 for its enhanced lighting and textures.

Tips for Bloom:

• Test creativity levels (Subtle for light tweaks, High for bold).
• Use “extra punch” toggle at 4x+ for more detail.
• Remix variations for fine-tuning.
• Specific prompts (e.g., “Enhance rustic wooden table grain”) help.
• Try Unblur/Denoise for cleaner images.

I didn’t stop at just one cozy café scene. I gave Bloom a tougher challenge — more whimsical, more detailed, more playful.

AI Image Enhancer Results: Tiny Turtle in a Teacup

Tested all 3 modes — Max, High, and Subtle Creativity.

Prompt: A whimsical image of a tiny turtle resting inside a decorated teacup, surrounded by a charming tea set. Its shell is painted with intricate floral designs, blending into the elegant porcelain.

• Result: Max Creativity blew me away. The floral textures on the shell, glossy porcelain, and delicate tea set details turned out magical.

AI Image Enhancer Results: Avocado Toast with Edible Flowers

Used Max Creativity.

Prompt: Sliced avocado toast decorated with edible flowers and gold flakes, soft lighting, food photography.

• Result: The toppings looked crisp and hyper-detailed. Bloom highlighted every seed and flower like it was shot for a cookbook.

AI Image Enhancer Results: Açaí Bowl with Fruit & Granola

Used Max Creativity

Prompt: Acai bowl topped with strawberries, banana, granola, background of green plants.

• Result: Juicy strawberries and crunchy granola stood out beautifully against a soft, plant-filled backdrop.

Every version stayed faithful to the original prompt while adding clarity and charm — the kind of polish that elevates AI art from cool to stunning.
